The Walter Reed Army Institute for Research has agreed to provide a supply of intravenous artesunate to CDC for release to hospitals in the United States under the IND protocol for treatment of patients with severe malaria. To be eligible to receive intravenous artesunate under CDC's IND protocol, patients must have malaria and need parenteral therapy because they are either unable to take oral medications, have high-density parasitemia 5% ; , or have severe malaria, indicated by other clinical criteria such as acute respiratory distress syndrome or severe anemia. In addition, for these patients, one of the following must be true: 1 ; artesunate is available more rapidly than quinidine if the drugs are equally available, attending clinicians will decide which drug to use in consultation with CDC ; , 2 ; the patient has experienced quinidine failure or intolerance, or 3 ; use of quinidine is contraindicated.
Aconitine-induced arrhythmias In control experiments, the latent period for aconitine-induced arrhythmias was 1.4 0.1 min, and duration of arrhythmia was 85.0 3.6 min. None of D compounds influenced the duration of arrhythmias. However, D12D15 compounds at the doses of 1 10 LD50 or higher profoundly increased the latent period before the arrhythmia and this effect was more pronounced as compared to procainamide Fig. 2 ; . The most prominent increase in the latent period at the drug dose of 1 10 LD50 was induced by D13 and amounted to 13.0 8.4 min. In contrast to D12D15 compounds or procainamide, quinidine only weakly affected latent period, while lidocaine and verapamil had no effect at all. The antiarrhythmic indices for D12D15 compounds are given in Table 2. Calcium chloride-induced arrhythmias In control group, the latent period after calcium chloride injection was 0.50 0.08 min, and survival rate amounted to 10%. Neither D12D15 compounds nor reference drugs increased the latent period before the arrhythmias. Only verapamil and D12 increased the survival in this model at the doses of 1 10 LD50. Antiarrhythmic index for verapamil and D12 was 7.8, and 5.2, respectively.

Give as much spermicide as possible--even as much as a year's supply, if available. 1. Check the expiration date and avoid using spermicides past their expiration date. 2. Wash hands with mild soap and clean water, if possible. 3. Foam or cream: Shake cans of foam hard. Squeeze spermicide from the can or tube into a plastic applicator. Insert the applicator deep into the vagina, near the cervix, and push the plunger. 4. Tablets, suppositories, jellies: Insert the spermicide deep into the vagina, near the cervix, with an applicator or with fingers. Film: Fold film in half and insert with fingers that are dry or else the film will stick to the fingers and not the cervix.

Shareholders who do not make the payments due on the shares they hold automatically owe the company default interest calculated on a daily basis starting from the due date, at the legal rate in business matters increased by three points, without prejudice to the compulsory enforcement measures provided by law. PART III MANAGEMENT OF THE COMPANY Article 11 Board of Directors The company shall be administered by a Board of Directors composed of between three and eighteen members. As soon as the number of directors aged over 70 represents more than one-third of the directors in office, the oldest director shall be deemed to have resigned ; his term of office shall end at the date of the next Ordinary General Meeting. Each director must own at least one share during his term of office. Directors shall hold office for a maximum of five years ; reappointment of directors shall be on a rotation basis. The Ordinary General Meeting shall set the term of office of directors such that members of the Board are reappointed on a regular basis in the most equal proportions possible. However, terms of office in progress shall continue until the expiry date originally set. Each member standing down shall be eligible for reappointment. Article 12 Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors The Board of Directors shall elect from among its members a Chairman, who must be a natural person less than 65 years of age. The Board may appoint from among its members a Vice-Chairman, who must be a natural person less than 65 years of age. They may be appointed for their entire term of office as directors. In the event of the temporary incapacity, resignation, death or non-reappointment of the Chairman, the Board of Directors may delegate another director to act as chairman. In the event of temporary incapacity, such delegation shall be given for a limited period and shall be renewable. In other cases, it shall be valid until a new Chairman is elected. The Chairman shall represent the Board or Directors. He shall organise and direct the work of the Board, and be accountable for this to the General Meeting. He shall ensure that the company's organs of management operate properly, and in particular that the directors are capable of fulfilling their duties. Article 13 Deliberations of the Board The Board of Directors shall meet as often as required by the interests of the company, either at the registered office or at any other place indicated in the notice of the meeting. The Chairman may notify the directors of meetings of the Board of Directors by any means, even orally. Meetings of the Board of Directors shall be chaired by the Chairman of the Board of Directors or in his absence by the Vice-Chairman. If the Chairman and Vice-Chairman are both absent, the Board of Directors shall appoint, for each meeting, a member who will chair the meeting. 5 and rapamune.

Result, more degradation takes place. This must be an important tactic of the fungi in securing their niche in a biomass before competitors encroach upon it. The enzymatic degradation products of lignin might switch the signal controlling growth rate to a faster mode. However, there are enormous numbers of chemical species as the product such as phenolic compounds, oligomers with different degrees of oligomerization derived from phenolic compounds as the building block, and lignin-carbohydrate complexes with a variety of chain length and monomer components. It must be difficult that receptors respond directly to all the products. Phenolic compounds are oxidized to catechol o-dihydroxybenzene ; or hydroquinone p-dihydroxybenzene ; derivatives in the presence of fungal dioxidase or laccase. These dihydroxybenzene derivatives are easily oxidized further to quinone derivatives enzymatically or nonenzymatically. The oxidation produces two short-lived HO2 hydrogen superoxide ; molecules, which disproportionate to H2 O and O2 enzymatically by superoxide dismutase SOD ; or nonenzymatically [22]. Consequently, these fungi may detect HO2 or H2 O stead of the lignin degradation products. It is widely accepted that ingestion of dietary fiber is indispensable to maintain human and animal health. Nevertheless, a fully acceptable reasoning has not been proposed yet. On the other hand, 20L of an Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 ; culture at a log phase culture 1500 10 6 cells mL ; were inoculated to peptone-glucose broth and the growth was monitored by turbidity with an spectrophotometer at 450 nm. The results obtained showed that the growth was enhanced by 40 % by supplementation with the hot water extract of cleaned corresponding to 1 g cleaned to 1 l culture media data not shown ; . However, the behavior of intestinal microflora is complicated, especially the lignin hydrolyzing microorganisms and the ones promoted by the hydrolysates are not necessarily the same. Moreover, the beneficial microorganisms must be promoted, whereas the malignant ones must be inhibited in order to contribute to the health and relenza.
