2. Advice a caregiver can give to the patient on some of the more common side effects associated with antiretroviral drugs and drugs used for prevention and treatment of OIs. Local practices and remedies should be assessed and integrated as apporpriate. a. Fatigue Symptoms of fatigue can be physical it may be hard to get out of bed or to walk upstairs ; or psychological patient may find it hard to concentrate; suffer depression, anxiety, and or stress ; . Fatigue may result from sleep problems having trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, suffering sleep disturbances ; . Fatigue can also be a symptom of anemia. Advise the patient to: Try going to sleep at night and waking in the morning at the same time every day; changes in sleep patterns can make a person feel more tired. Avoid caffeine, alcohol, or nicotine for 4-6 hours before going to bed. A light snack, chamomile tea, warm milk and relaxation techniques before bedtime are often helpful. Try to get a little exercise. Exercise eases stress and makes a person feel stronger and more alive. Have someone help with day-to-day chores such as cooking. Keep easy-to-prepare foods on hand for times when cooking is too tiring. Eat snack foods throughout the day and fresh fruits that don't require preparation. Drink high-energy, high-protein liquids. b. Anemia Anemia may be caused by HIV itself or be a side effect of drugs. Give intramuscular injections of vitamin B12 every 1-2 weeks, if necessary or feasible. Advise the patient to: Return to the clinic to check hemoglobin count regularly Eat a diet of locally available foods that are high in folic acid, including spinach and other green leafy vegetables, and high in iron and vitamin B12, such as fish, meat and poultry, if available Take multivitamins and or supplements of folic acid or iron If the patient develops pale palms or other signs of anemia when on ZDV, advise the patient to go to the health center to have his or her hemoglobin checked. If there is a drop of more than 25 percent from the baseline value, consider switching the drug. c. Headache Headaches are generally treatable with nonprescription drugs and by stress reduction. While some studies showed reduction of total corpus callosum and anterior, middle, and posterior callosal sub-regions in individuals with autism, others did not. According to our knowledge, there is no report on complete agenesis of corpus callosum in subjects with AD. Objective: To report a case with autistic disorder AD ; , mental retardation MR ; , treatment-resistant epilepsy, and complete agenesis of corpus callosum, and also to discuss the influence of corpus callosum agenesis in clinical outcome. Methods: Case description: A 12-year-old non-verbal boy was referred to our clinic because of the lack of verbal and non-verbal communication, and repetitive behaviors. He had severe motor developmental delay and grand-mal seizures with no response to antiepileptics. He had also dysmorphic features such as midfacial hypoplasia, dysplastic ears, mandibular prognathism, and bilateral fifth finger clinodactyly. Results: His extensive metabolic and genetic screenings were normal. His cranial MRI revealed the complete absence of the corpus callosum and the enlargement of the posterior and temporal horns of the lateral ventricles. Conclusion: The clinical outcome in this case could be related with complete agenesis of corpus callosum. Although it is premature to generalize these findings, however it may be concluded that the complete agenesis of corpus callosum and the diminished inter-hemispheric connectivity might have an impact on the more severe clinical presentation such as the co-occurrence of dysmorphic features, autism, mental retardation and epilepsy. PD was originally described in 1817 by James Parkinson in his Essay on the Shaking Palsy. The diagnosis of PD depends upon the presence of one or more of the four cardinal symptoms of the disorder: Resting tremor In the early stages of the disease, about 70 percent of people experience a slight tremor in the hand or foot on one side of the body. Less common is a tremor in the jaw or face. The tremor of PD is regular to-and-fro oscillating movement at about 4 beats per second. Because tremor usually appears when the muscles are relaxed, it is called "resting" tremor. The resting tremor of PD typically occurs in an arm resting in the lap, or on an armrest, or when it is dangling by one's side when standing or walking. The tremor of PD can increase under stress or excitement, sometimes attracting unwanted notice. Many patients are aware that their resting tremor will diminish or resolve completely when they bring the body part into active use. By keeping a hand busy, for example, a patient can prevent the tremor that occurs when the hand is resting. The absolute amount of movement decreases in PD, giving patients an unnaturally still appearance. A lack of spontaneous blinking and movement in the face can give a serious or mask-like expression. Experiments were conducted during two growing seasons 2001 02 and 2002 03 ; at the greenhouse to study the effect of spermidine and stigmasterol on growth, flowering, biochemical constituents and essential oil content of chamomile plant Chamomilla recutita L., Rausch ; . Different concentrations 25, 50, 75 and 100 mg 1 ; of spermidine and stigmasterol were applied during the vegetative stage. Both bioregulators especially at 100 mg 1 ; improved plant growth parameters plant height, branches number, fresh and dry weight ; during the vegetative stage. Spermidine was more effective than stigmasterol. This effect was consequential during the flowering stage. However, at that stage, fresh and dry weights, flowers number and weight, were more affected by stigmasterol application than by spermidine. At both stages, spermidine and stigmasterol, at the concentration of 100 mg 1 strongly affected growth. Consequently, the biochemical constituents of leaves total sugars, phenols and indoles ; were increased. Essential oil content of flowers was significantly improved by the application of the both bioregulators at 100 mg 1. Stigmasterol was more effective than spermidine in increasing essential oil content and plant yield at the three collections. The major components of chamomile essential oils, identified by gas liquid chromatography GLC ; were farnesene, bisabolol oxide , bisabolol, chamazulene and bisabolol oxide A. Their percentage rates varied according to the concentrations of spermidine and stigmasterol applied.
